In today's skeptic world, we try to be as transparent as possible. We welcome visitors to our home so you can meet my wonderful pets and see for yourself how much they are loved and how well they are cared for. Here is a little preview of what life is like during our busiest time of the year (whelping season) at My Precious Puppies.
It is with great sadness that I tell you all that I have developed an allergy to my shedding pets. My Kassie (Cavalier) and my Daisy (Cocker Spaniel) have been placed in wonderful homes due to my condition. I'm hoping this is temporary as I love all breeds of dogs and I did read that woman going through menopause have experienced this so again, I hope this is temporary. But to be fair to my girls who loved to be hugged and cuddled with, I felt I had no choice. So with this, my furry family will only include non-shedding/hypoallergenic Schnauzers and Poodles.
My name is Sheri and I have been raising beautiful and healthy companions since 1994. Actually my first experience with breeding dogs was at the age of 10. My Grandmother's female Whippet was in heat and my dog Schnooker, half German Shepherd and half Chow Chow, serviced her while I failed to keep her in a separate area of our home. So, 63 days later I was part of the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my life. Growing up in Barton, WI just up the road from Puppy Land, I spent much of my childhood helping ol' Joe take care of his dogs of all ages and all breeds...I was hooked. My beautiful daughter Samantha shares my love for all dogs and joined me here at My Precious Puppies back in 2018. The photo is of me and my Schnooker way back in 1979. We went everywhere together. He was with me from the time I was 2 years old until he passed away when I was 18 so when people contact me about the loss of a furry family member, believe me, I can most definitely sympathize and relate to the devastation and I DO believe that all dogs go to heaven.
Our class clown...Gretta! This funny & fun loving girl has it all. Great personality, smart as a whip and looks to boot. She loves people and is so friendly to all...as all of my pets are. Gretta's babies will range between 12 & 16 pounds.
Sophie is our "parti" Miniature Schnauzer. She is a sweet and loving girl with a wonderful personality. She was extremely easy to train as she loves the one on one attention. Her babies range 12 to 16 pounds at full maturity. All Schnoodles will be completely non-shedding. Many of you know her with her poodle haircut. She is so curly, until I received her DNA results, i wasn't even convinced she was a purebred Miniature Schnauzer regardless what her registration papers said. I tried a new look for her...I hardly recognize her.
Opie is our little stud muffin. He is so smart and such a little love. He has been proven to produce beautiful colors including multi color. He has tight curls, a rich red color and a super friendly personality.
All of our dogs are a part of the family. We only breed high quality Champion prospect AKC registerable dogs that have been DNA tested for perfect health, temperament and confirmation suitable for therapy, show or a well behaved loyal companion. All of my breeding prospects go through genetic dna testing and only enter our program if they pass all health requirements. I have been raising wonderful, healthy, intelligent and well socialized puppies of many breeds for over 25 years now and I welcome you to visit us to meet my family and see this for yourself.
For our babies protection, I do not allow visitors until the puppies have had their first set of puppy vaccinations at 6 weeks of age. After that time you may come and visit anytime, meet Mom & Dad and stay to play with the pups as often and for as long as you'd like. We love visitors and feel it's very good for the puppies to have that interaction with people at a young age. Small children are welcome however I ask that they be seated on the floor and may only handle the pups with your supervision.
When you have made the decision to adopt one of our puppies, please fill out our Pre-Adoption form below. We will contact you with availability as to current or upcoming litters as well as your placement pick of the litter. Once approved, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your puppy. Updates are sent: 1) when our female has been bred. 2) when pregnancy has been confirmed. 3) after babies are born. 4) every week thereafter until 8 weeks of age. Your deposit is transferable to a different litter if for some reason you cannot go through with the adoption.
Deposits can be made with cash, by check/money order or credit card through PayPal or Venmo.
Balance is due in cash at the time of pick-up or delivery please. For your convenience, we have placed a "Reserve Your Puppy" link at the the very bottom of this page. Please do not send until we have reviewed your Pre-Adoption Application and confirmed that we do/will have a puppy available for you.
Our puppies are kept in a very quiet area (my nursery) for the first 6 weeks of their life really only seeing myself, my family and their Mom. I weigh them right after they are born and daily to weekly after that depending on their size. They will have an exam, their dew claws removed as well as their tails docked at 3 days old. At 2 weeks old they get their first dose of wormer, again at 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks & at 8 weeks of age. At around 5-1/2 weeks or so we start introducing the puppies to moistened puppy food and if they accept it, at that time I start weaning Mom to shorter and shorter feeding sessions until they are ready to eat solid, dry puppy . At 6 weeks they are vaccinated and we can then have visitors! Once the puppies have adjusted to life without Mom, I start short sessions of separation periods and introduce them to a small kennel. At this time also they are moved to my puppy playroom where there is a lot of activity. Only after they have been vaccinated will they be let outside for the first time followed by every 2 to 3 hours during the day for potty training, weather permitting. During the cold winter months, small babies will be kept inside and be trained to use a piddle pad. Over the last 2 weeks, I work on basic training. By the time they are 8 weeks old they will have a very good start on many important things that your puppy will need to know to become a well trained, obedient companion for a long life of happiness. The rest is up to you and I ask only one thing of you in return...if for any reason you can no longer care for your puppy, do not surrender him or her to a shelter. If you can not find a good home, regardless of his or her age, I will take him or her back and work toward finding a new home.
You may pick-up your puppy at 8 weeks of age unless for some reason we feel your puppy needs a bit more time before leaving the nest. We do like to see them at at least 3 pounds before they go home. I am more than happy to deliver your puppy to you within 50 miles or so from my home at no extra charge to you however if farther I would ask for help with gas expenses. I'm sorry but I will not put my puppies on an airplane or in the hands of strangers through a pet delivery service. We have delivered puppies to more than 1500 miles from our home. If you wish to have us hand deliver your puppy to any of the 48 states, we will need travel expenses paid in full before we leave. To inquire about out of state delivery, please send me the destination zip code and I will get back to you with a quote and estimate time frame. I would only charge gas and toll expenses if within 200 miles. If farther, I may have to include a car rental. Often times my fee is less than airline shipping and with this, your puppy will remain safe and stress free during our travels. Occasionally we will list our babies in PA, CO, FL and other areas outside of WI with the travel expenses already included.
My Puppy Pack includes 2 disposable pads, a bag of Puppy Chow, a plush toy that will have Mom and siblings scent, a New Puppy Handbook that will teach you everything you need to know about raising and training a happy, healthy puppy, weight chart, all vaccination records, worming chart which also includes a report card checklist from our veterinarian exam (eyes, ears, oral, heart, overall health, etc.) and a first year genetic health guarantee.
For those who have asked about AKC registration...Yes, my puppies are eligible to be AKC Registered through AKC's Canine Partners. Canine Partners allows mixed breed dogs to participate and earn titles in dog sports such as Agility, Obedience, Rally, Tracking and Coursing Ability. AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program is another program that might be of interest to you. The CGC Program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. The 10-step list and training tips are in your New Puppy Handbook. However, the only reason we state "AKC Champion Lines" when listing our pups is to let you know that we have done our homework. The AKC allows us to look back for generations to ensure that we are breeding quality pets that have no history of genetic disorders including hip dysplasia, cardio, patella or eye problems. We will never breed a dog that has any of these issues in their line.
My Precious Puppies reserves the right to hold back any puppy or deny your pick if we do not feel it is the right placement. It does not happen often but if it does, your deposit will be returned to you.
